このバウハウスチェスごまは、ハウス・ワイマール校で木彫工房のマイスター（職人）をしていたJosef Hartwigによって、1923年にデザインされました。幾何学的な形状と駒そのものの動きの感覚を結びつけることによってとても機能的にデザインされています。現在はスイスのネフ社が生産しています。
その駒そのものの美しさもさることながら、ボードの凛とした姿からパッケージの緻密さ、かっこよさに至るまで、さすがのBauhausそしてネフ社の製品と納得のいく歴史的逸品です。
